Arrival from Bangkok airport to the city center

Thailand is one of the most visited countries in the world, which almost automatically makes the main airport in the capital city of Bangkok one of the busiest airports in the world, where tens of millions of tourists pass every year as part of their visit to the Kingdom of Siam or as a connection from which they will continue on for a domestic flight within the country itself or to another destination, usually across the continent of Asia.

How to get from Suvarnabhumi Airport to downtown Bangkok

Arrival from Bangkok Airport (Suvarnabhumi) to the city center

There are quite a few ways to get from the Bangkok airport to the city center, the main ones being - train, bus, taxi and car rental. The differences between the ways are mainly a function of time and money when after weighing the variables, it can be said that A train will almost always be the most cost-effective option Whereas A taxi will be the most expensive and will not necessarily save time (During rush hour, for example, this is a slow option and not cheap at all).

Of course, it is recommended to examine each case individually, but if you want to reach a central location or near it, the first option will meet your needs and at affordable prices.

a train

ARL - or in her full name Airport Rail Link is the train that connects the airport to Bangkok city center, where it stops at several central stations and near the popular destinations. In addition, at the beginning of its journey, the train also stops at some of the hotels located near the airport, so if you need to get to one of them - it is a convenient (and air-conditioned) and cheap option.

In terms of the lines themselves, there are two options at your disposal - the direct line (Express) or the suburban train (City Line). The direct line will bring you after about a quarter of an hour's drive to The main stations in the city - Makkasan and Phayathai, while the suburban train also arrives at the Makkasan station, but stops along the way at five other stations and takes about half an hour to travel.

In addition to the obvious advantages, it is important to note that using the train will save you from haggling with the local drivers regarding the payment and will allow you to avoid the famous traffic jams of Thailand's capital city which, especially during rush hour, can be really tough.

Location: B floor.
Activity time: From 06:00 to 00:00.

bus

There are four bus lines that depart from the airport bus terminal and go all over the city of Bangkok in addition to several other destinations around the country. This is an available and fairly cheap option, although in light of the convenient prices of the train leaving from the nearby station, this option has no advantage except in cases where you need to reach a specific destination that the train does not stop at. In addition, if you are not traveling on your own but part of a couple or a larger group - the price of the trip is close to the price of a taxi.

In any case, the buses you are looking for are marked asAirport Express, the duration of the trip depends on the load and the destination station and the cost of the trip is 150 baht. Please note that during rush hours the trip to the city center may be long and tiring, especially if the bus is also crowded and noisy.

  • Line number 1 – arrives at the main street of Salem
  • Line number 2 – arrives in the area The Kwasan
  • Line number 3 – arrives at Plonchit Street (there is line 3 marked as Specia and it arrives at the Nana station on Sukhumvit Street)
  • Line number 4 – arrives at the Hua Lamphong train station

Activity time:
The different buses have different operating hours. The bus connecting the two airports in the city is active between 05:00 and 00:00

cab

There are two places in the airport from which taxis depart - the one that is here on the ground floor (1st floor) and the one on the 3rd floor. The main difference between the services is that those leaving the ground floor belong to the official and regulated taxi service of the field and therefore the prices are relatively fixed, so that the cost of a trip to the city center is about NIS 70.

The taxis leaving from the third floor, on the other hand, belong to public taxis So it is possible (and customary) to haggle with the drivers on the price, which can end up being about half of the initially stated price. However, it is important to note that from time to time there is a ban on the use of taxis from this place and at these times there will be police officers to prevent their use.

Either way, in terms of times it is a slower option compared to a train and not much faster compared to buses, but much more expensive. If you are traveling as part of a group then this is a more affordable option that will take you right to the door of the hotel.

Car Rental

At the airport you can find everything The major car rental agencies international alongside some well-known local companies. You can order the vehicles in one of two options - directly with the rental companies, in case you have already landed in Thailand and have not yet settled the rental issue, or - pre-order the service and pay online via the Internet.

The advantage of the second option is regarding the cost - ordering in advance will allow you to enjoy attractive prices, including various promotions that are offered from time to time for online purchases. Another advantage is choosing the type of vehicle you want compared to those who order the service only after landing and are forced to choose from the existing selection.

As a general rule, if you have specific requirements, whether it is a preference or constraint related to the type of your driver's license (for example, an automatic vehicle license only) - it is recommended to order the vehicle as far in advance as possible via the Internet.
