When the island comes to life

As soon as the sun sets, the streets of the island come to life and are bathed in colorful neon lights, music of all kinds of genres and fun parties, attended by quite a few vacationers. One of the most prominent locations in Phuket, and some claim that it is also among the most prominent in Thailand as a whole, is Patong Beach, a beach town that is an attraction in itself. The main street of Patong - Bangla Road It is a stopping point for many travelers in the evening, and it is also closed to vehicular traffic after dark, so it becomes suitable only for pedestrians. The length of this street is about 400 meters, with quite a few side streets that continue it, which are also visited by tourists. The whole area offers a variety of entertainment places, pubs, lively clubs and of course quite a few parties with locals and tourists.

Bangla Road is on the beach, in the southwestern part of the island, about an hour's drive from Phuket International Airport and 35-45 minutes' drive from Phuket Town. There are air-conditioned and modern bus services that connect the town of Phuket with Bangla Road and you can, if you want, rent a car and get to the area independently.

If you are visiting there for the first time, it is important that you prepare yourself for the fact that it is an experience like no other. The main street, as mentioned, is filled with clubs, pubs and parties that "flow" into the street itself. Almost every bar or club has a covered roof, so a walk along the street will bring you music of different styles and a mix of people. Most tourists choose to spend the night in several bars, and simply "jump" from one to another. In some places there are live musical performances, in others there are DJs playing, and all of them are decorated with colorful neon lights, billboards, televisions that broadcast all kinds of broadcasts and local design elements that contribute quite a bit to the atmosphere.

You will often see workers outside bars and clubs, encouraging passers-by and returnees (you) to come inside. They may offer you discounted drinks and good deals. Remember, the competition between places of entertainment is very great and the selection is wide. Don't rush into the first place you come to. Do an overview of the area and only after that, decide where you want to spend time and what places to stop. At the same time, there are also street performances of fire stunts, magic, breakdancing and more. It is customary to donate to the performers (there is a small jar in the front, into which the money is thrown), if only as a sign of thanks and appreciation.

Important tips

Phuket's night life is known to be boisterous, colorful and one that draws travelers to them, who want to experience everything, experiment and also have fun. No matter how old you are, you will definitely want to take part in them and visit the prominent bars or clubs on the island. At the same time, as in many places in the world, it is important to take extra care and know how to drive properly, especially if this is your first visit to Phuket.

Phuket is generally very safe for visitors even in the wee hours of the night. If you act in a friendly and respectful manner towards everyone you encounter (locals and tourists alike) it is unlikely that you will find yourself in any trouble. However, aggressive or insulting behavior, especially towards the locals on the island, could get you into a lot of trouble, which you should very much avoid.

When you get to the bars, the local staff may challenge you to a "friendly" game where the loser is the one who buys the drinks. If you lose, you'll end up having to buy overpriced and sometimes irrational drinks, which can drain your wallet. Therefore, do not be tempted by this and politely refuse to participate in the game. If you want to spend until the morning, try to do it with another group of people and not alone (unless this is your tenth visit to the island and you know it well and feel safe). Make sure that at least one of the group does not get drunk and will be the one to direct you (good luck!) back to the hotel. You don't want to find yourself confused and drunk and trying for long hours to get to your accommodation...

In any case, a vacation in Phuket is an opportunity to enjoy life and there are quite a few options on the island that can definitely help you with this. Don't miss all the abundance that the island offers, but at the same time try to keep your finger on the pulse, especially after dark.
