Attractions in Kofifi

Coffeey It is an archipelago of several islands that belong to Thailand and administratively form part of a province Crabby. The islands, which are located in southern Thailand, are very popular among tourists and offer a wide variety of attractions, including beautiful bathing beaches. The largest island among this group of islands is Don Island, while the second is Le Island, known to us from the movie "The Beach", starring the famous DiCaprio.

Koh Phi Phi

Beaches not to be missed

The Phi Phi Islands are the perfect destination for beach lovers. Kopipi beaches They are very diverse, and come in all shapes and sizes. They are characterized by soft white sands, clear waters and coconut trees that give them a charming tropical appearance. You can spend long days in them and enjoy your back and stay in one of the good resorts or hotels, which are next to them or right on the beach. Here is an overview of some of Kofipi beaches that should not be missed:

Maya Bay

Maya Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand, and undoubtedly among the most beautiful in Ko Phi Phi. It is a bay with relatively shallow water, surrounded by steep and high limestone rocks. Many come to it both to enjoy a "back belly" and to get to know a little more, and especially up close, its underwater world, by snorkeling, which is considered a favorite activity for masses of travelers. Maya Bay became even more famous after the release of the movie "The Beach" and the crowds of visitors who come to it want to see the place where many scenes from it were filmed. It is a beautiful beach, although it can be busy at times and every day more than 30 speedboats and also large ferries arrive, carrying vacationers on them. It is highly recommended to arrive at the place in the early morning hours or after 17 pm in the afternoon to avoid the crowds.

Loh Dalum Bay

Number two on the list is Lou Delum Bay, which is on the other side of Kopipi. This is also a lovely beach, which is also sometimes crowded with quite a few visitors. The bay boasts a white sandy beach and clear turquoise water, as well as quite a few bars, which offer refreshing drinks and alcoholic drinks of all kinds, as well as parties and fire shows in the wee hours of the night.

Bamboo Island

It is a small, flat island located only 5 km from the northern end of the island of Don. On the northern and eastern side of the island you will find beautiful sandy beaches and a very pleasant atmosphere, which makes it one of the most recommended spots. There is a small bar, which serves drinks as well as snacks and compared to other beaches of Kofifi is less touristy (although it too may be crowded with visitors at times).

Long Beach

Long Beach is a five minute boat ride from the village of Tonsai and you can combine the visit there with the visit to the village itself. It has bungalows that you can stay in, some of which belong to the invested resorts in the area. It also offers soft white sand and clear and pleasant water.

Monkey Beach

This is one of the most well-known beaches in Kofipi and especially for being the home of many monkeys, who do not hesitate to jump and climb on the feet of visitors, in search of their breakfast or lunch (bananas...). Hence the name of the beach. Monkey Beach is located in a hidden cove, west of Lu Dalam Bay. When the tide comes in, almost the entire beach is covered, but in other situations quite a bit of beach is left with sand. You can reach the beach itself on foot or rent a canoe to go on a cruise.

Laem Tong Beach

Liam Tong Beach is at the northern tip of Don Island and is considered one of the quietest and most secluded beaches in Ko Phi Phi. To reach it, you have to board a boat that leaves from the village of Tunsai, a 45-minute cruise. There are four very luxurious resorts on the island and a few less. Not far from the beach, which is relevant for snorkeling enthusiasts, there are wonderful spots to do it: Mosquito Island, Bamboo Island and Hin Klang.

Phak Nam Bay

This bay is on the east coast of the Isle of Don, it is secluded and has a bathing beach and also a small fishing village. The bay can be reached on foot, although it is a rather long trip, but it is recommended, and much faster, to do it by boat. There is another holiday home on the beach itself and it is undoubtedly one of the quiet and peaceful beaches of Kofipi. Suitable for loners.

Various points of interest and activities not to be missed

Besides the bathing beaches in the group of islands, there are quite a few special points of interest in Kofipi, which are recommended to stop at. This way you can get to know the area a little more deeply, learn about the local culture, enjoy the nature and the atmosphere itself and also absorb everything that is offered there, which cannot be seen or found elsewhere in Thailand. Beyond that, various activities are offered on the islands, some very calm and some full of adrenaline.

Dives in Kofipi

This is one of the favorite activities for visitors to Kofipi, the one that offers a different kind of experience and extraordinary sights. Diving, as a very prominent attraction in the cluster of islands of Phi Phi, is possible thanks to the large number of professional diving centers scattered throughout the islands, which enable, with their help, different types of diving and day trips to the most beautiful diving sites in the area. These sites include Shark Point, Anemone Reef and the King Cruiser Wreck, which are located between Kopipi to Phuket. Other highly recommended diving sites are in Maya Bay, Koh Bida Nok and Nai. All these diving sites offer a rich and unique underwater world.

Shark watching

Yes, it might sound a little strange, but it turns out that among Kopipi's popular attractions you can also find a shark watching cruise. In fact, they have become a very prominent tourist attraction since Spielberg's famous movie "Jaws" was released, which on the one hand aroused disgust and fear of the fearsome sharks, but on the other hand, also quite a bit of curiosity. In the waters surrounding Kofifi you can find a considerable number of sharks and tours, which come very close to them, frequently leave already in the early hours of the day, at 6 in the morning. They last for about half a day, are done in small groups and include the use of full snorkeling equipment, including a professional guide. The most famous site where you can watch sharks underwater is Shark Point, which is about 800 meters from Long Beach.

Visiting Moo Dee Bay

This beautiful bay is an attraction in itself if only thanks to its long beach, 500 meters long, adjacent to the wonderful clear water. It is located in the eastern part of Kopipi Don and is the perfect place to escape from all the large crowds that may flood the islands. You can try your hand at snorkeling in this bay or enjoy a swim on the back. To reach it, you have to rent a boat, which leaves from the Tonsai pier and arrives at the bay after a twenty-minute cruise.

Viking Cave

The Viking Cave is one of the most prominent sites on La Island, in Kopipi. It is at the bottom of a very high limestone cliff, in the northeastern part of the island and it takes around 30 minutes to get there by boat, leaving from Tonsai pier. This cave, known in the local language as Tham Nak Nak, owes its name and the great popularity it has gained over the years to the paintings found on its south-eastern walls, representing different types of walls. They look relatively new and may have been painted by sailors, who took shelter in a cave during the strong storms.

Spectacular viewpoints

Yes, the observation points in Kofipi are indeed an attraction that should not be missed, one that offers spectacular views, some of which are breathtaking, on the islands. Phi Phi View Point actually has three viewpoints. To get to them you have to climb a very large number of stairs, but the climb to them definitely justifies itself. These points are numbered so that if you miss access to them, you can ask the locals. While the third observation point is more distant, the other two are relatively close, at the same time a long walk is required to reach them. It is highly recommended to equip yourself accordingly, wear comfortable walking shoes and also take a drinking bottle. It is very worthwhile to go to these points on dry days, since on rainy days the ground may be muddy, difficult to walk on and slippery.
