Jeep trip in Chiang Mai

with the beauty and charm she brings, Chiang Mai is a perfect alternative to the capital of Thailand, Bangkok. Instead of walking through crowded and busy alleys, visitors to Chiang Mai enjoy a picturesque and pleasant city center and easy and convenient navigation on foot. The weather in Chiang Mai is usually comfortable and pleasant and the air is clean, certainly compared to other regions of the country. You can "go around" the city on a bicycle or a scooter and it is also recommended to combine a trip to the sites near the city, in the more rural areas, where the thick rain forests are located, abundant with waterfalls. Chiang Mai can be reached by a direct and very comfortable domestic flight from Bangkok, a flight that lands at the city's airport, which has been highly rated for its good facilities.

Get to know the area in a slightly different way

One of the best ways to explore the area around Chiang Mai is by jeep tours, offered by many tour companies. These trips allow those who choose them much easier mobility and access to the famous places of the region, including the ancient temples, the high mountains, the colorful local markets and of course the spectacular nature as well as learning a lot about the local tradition and culture.

These trips are suitable for curious travelers, adventurers and those who are more looking for comfort. They do not require too high physical abilities and are even suitable for families with children. These are usually three-day trips, which include accommodation, meals and, of course, instruction from professional and experienced guides who are well acquainted with the area and its various characteristics.

The first day of the trip - we set off

The jeep tours usually start in the early hours of the day and it is likely that at 08:30 you will find yourself sitting in a jeep with another group of people you may not know. The reason for this lies in the long drive to the first stop of the trip, a three-hour drive, which requires proper preparation. This point is the special temple Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, located at the top of the highest mountains in the region, in the northernmost part of Thailand, overlooks beautiful Chiang Mai and the adjacent mountain range. The temple showcases the beauty and creativity of the local architecture, which makes visiting it an extraordinary experience. You can reach the temple by a difficult climb of 306 degrees, or take a stylish elevator to save the effort.

After visiting the temple, continue to Mok Fa Falls, in which you can dip. However, it should be taken into account that the baptism, as well as the visit to the place itself, is not always possible and depends on the weather conditions. The spectacular views of the areas, the nature and the charming waterfalls are like a mirror inside a postcard and it is highly recommended to document them with a camera or phone if only to remember this beauty in the future and a trip full of memories and great sights. And on the assumption that indeed the weather allows it, after the immersion in the cool waters of the falls, we continue on. This time - a lunch break at a nearby local restaurant and a good opportunity to get to know the excellent Thai cuisine. From there, before continuing to the district of Pai, you pass through The memory bridge, above the river Pai, which in itself is a very prominent tourist attraction in the area. The bridge is made of iron and was built in 1942 by the Japanese to more easily transport weapons and various elements directly to Burma during World War II. The fence is exactly at the 88th km on highway 1095 on the way from Mae Malai to Pai.

אל pie, the last stop of the first day, arrive in the afternoon or evening. Stop at one of the resorts or hotels where you spend the night, get organized and rest a bit and go to the local night market, which opens around 18 pm and includes a variety of stalls, offering for sale souvenirs, various handicrafts and of course local delicacies. After wandering - it's time to end the evening, go to bed and gather strength for the next day.

The second day of the trip - we start with good energy

The first stop of the second day is Lisu tribe village. The Lisu people are considered descendants of Tibet and they settled in this area over 80 years ago. Today several hundred Liso people live in the village and when you visit them you can learn a lot about their culture and tradition. After visiting the village, continue to the next destination, Tham Lot Cave. The length of this huge cave is 1,666 meters and the Nam Lang River also flows through it. The cave is very spacious and you can move freely in it while watching the spectacular stalactites in it. Besides the large number of bats in the cave, you can also find coffins made of teak wood. These cabinets were created thousands of years ago by the Loa people, who lived in the area.

After the visit to the cave, we continue to lunch, followed by a leisurely boat ride until Village of the long necks the famous This is one of the most beautiful villages in northern Thailand, where you can meet the tribes themselves up close. This special day ends with a visit to two very well-known temples in the area Mea Hong Son, built in the 19th century inspired by the Burmese, which makes them different from other temples in Thailand. After visiting the temples, continue to the adjacent town, where Lenim is also located.

Tuesday and last day - sum up an experiential and pleasant journey

The third day of the jeep trip has arrived and it is also the last day of the journey. This day begins with a visit to the highest mountain in the province - Doi inthanon, which is 2,565 meters high. The peak of the mountain is a point of attraction for many tourists from all over the world as well as locals, who come to enjoy a spectacular view and lovely views. From there we continue to the local village and to the waterfalls that are near it and immediately after for lunch and a short break before returning "home", to beautiful Chiang Mai.
