Phang Falls

Phaeng Waterfalls

Ko Pha Ngan Island has plenty of attractions for young and old to enjoy, making it one of the most favorite places in Thailand among young people, retirees, loving couples and families with little ones. Among the many attractions you will find magical beaches, museums, observation points, heritage sites, markets and also nature reserves where wild nature with spectacular vegetation and graceful animals.

Among the parks and favorite sites of the travelers who come to the island, whether they are families with children or backpackers traveling in their trunks, there are several beautiful waterfalls that offer a particularly photogenic experience of steady flow, clear water and a great atmosphere, one of the most famous and beautiful of which is the Phang waterfall, which is considered the largest of its kind , located in the National Park Thon Sadet (And as such it is adjacent to several other beautiful spots that you should not miss visiting).

In fact, there are generally two waterfalls:

Small (Pango Noi), which is very easy to reach because it is right at the entrance to the nature reserve and also includes a small pool where you can dip or at least wade your feet - which makes the waterfall particularly easy to identify...

Big (Fang Yai), which is at the end of a short and steep track, but offers a powerful farm next to the forces of nature and a spectacularly beautiful local flora.

If that's not enough, you'll be happy to hear that near the waterfall there are several other very nice small attractions:

  • On a small hill at the entrance to the compound is the jade temple.
  • About 200 meters up the trail, there is a particularly romantic vantage point. And if the spirit of adventure tickles you, you can continue and climb up to the highest observation point on the island.
  • Parallel to the waterfalls is a route of about an hour's walk (2.5 km) where you can admire the landscape and the animals in the area.
  • In our opinion, even the walk itself towards the waterfall, which passes through a rain forest where the path is particularly steep, is quite an exciting experience.

Finally, a bit of romance - in the nature reserve where the waterfall is located you can see a yellow flower, one of a kind, of the Pet Cha Heung type - which is the largest orchid in the world and over three meters tall.

. - to the east of the road leading from Thong Sala towards Chaloklum, near the village of Ban Madua Wan.

Opening Hours - Monday through Sunday at 08:00-16:00.

The entrance is free of charge

More information - It is true that the dry season is the most pleasant for a trip around the Thai kingdom, but this is also the season when the waterfalls are dry, so visitors to the place are expected to be disappointed. If you want to enjoy them at their peak, it is recommended to visit the place after the end of the monsoon season.
