Woking Street

Pattaya Walking Street

District / Neighborhood: Bang Lamong

Walking along the Walking Street - the walking street - of the city Pattaya can be a particularly fun and lively experience. The many colors, the neon lights, the mass crowd and the music from all sides will amaze any innocent bystander. In addition, there is also a lot to do - from various concerts, night clubs and cool bars to good restaurants and refreshing tropical fruit stands.

The street in question extends over a length of almost a kilometer. This is one of the most popular and touristic streets in Thailand, so it is no wonder that it is a noisy and party area. You can enjoy meeting tourists from all over the world and watching the crowd celebrating in the streets. But if you prefer peace and quiet, you should choose somewhere else.

Food Walking Street has endless good options to enjoy a quality meal. The street is known for the delicious seafood that is sold there and for the exclusive restaurants overlooking the beach. In addition to many and varied restaurants, there are also street food stalls: Pad Thai, traditional desserts, tropical fruits, etc. It is recommended to try the Turkish ice cream, which is famous throughout the city. Here are some of the recommended restaurants on the street:

  • Marine Seafood - is right in the center of the street. A cheap and basic restaurant that serves delicious Thai food and fresh seafood.
  • King Seafood - is opposite Soi 14. The restaurant offers its diners a spectacular view of the beach, good food and a relaxed atmosphere.
  • La Notte Pub & Restaurant - is located at 220/2-4 Woking Street. The restaurant serves European food and especially high quality French food.
  • Karma Indian Restaurant – is located at 109/4 Moo 10, near Soi 15. This is one of the best Indian restaurants in Pattaya.
  • Rasputin Restaurant Pattaya - is at 280/1 Woking Street, at the end of the street, near Bali Hai. A lively and stylish Russian restaurant with a varied menu of typical Russian food.
  • L'Italiano Italian Restaurant - located at 94/7 Moo 10. A quality Italian restaurant that offers an impressive selection of wines.

night lifePattaya's Walking Street is the center of the city's nightlife. It contains a wide selection of clubs, bars, parties and go-go bars. Everywhere you can see glowing and flashing signs advertising various places of entertainment, girls who will hand you flyers and invite you to come in and drink a beer or a cocktail. A bit like the "red windows" in Amsterdam, you can see along the street gypsy women, dressed in minimal clothing, dancing through shop windows. For example in the famous club Moulin Rouge.

Every night on the street there are at least 5 bands performing live music. You can wander along the street and choose the band that sounds the most to you (you can notice this from the outside). The artists who perform are often very talented and the music is familiar pop rock. In the clubs you can also order drinks at reasonable prices and enjoy dancing to the popular songs playing in the background.

There are over 100 entertainment places on the street and the selection is very confusing. Here are some of the recommended entertainment places:

  • Abbe's Bar – is in front of Soi BJ. One of the most fun and friendly bars on the street. Drink prices are reasonable. There is also a pool table and live broadcasts of sports games.
  • The Blue's Factory – Located at 131/3 Moo 10, Soi Lucky Star. Rock, blues, funk and R&B music performance club. A good place to hear quality local bands and enjoy a beer with a good atmosphere.
  • Blue Sky III – a bar located near Soi Lucky Star. A popular and fun music performance bar in the Wild West style. The music is good and the drink prices are affordable.
  • Blue Sky Station – A bar located opposite Sea Zone. This is a large open bar with performances by local artists, mainly Thai rock. The atmosphere is good and the music is excellent.
  • Hot Tuna Bar – There are four bars bearing this name in Pattaya, all close to Walking Street. The largest and most recommended is a party and concert bar located in front of Club Insomnia. The place also has pool tables and the service is particularly good.
  • The Stones House - A huge concert club, with 2 floors, that hosts bands that play music from different styles: jazz, blues, rock, hip-hop and more. There is also a beautiful balcony with a view and the design is different and unique. The address is 85 Moo 10.

Boxing showsOn Walking Street you can watch Muay Thai shows, Thai boxing. The most popular place is located in the middle of the street, opposite the entrance to Marine Plaza. The fights are usually not very brutal and the show is fun to watch. At the end of the show, you can go up to the ring and take a picture with the wrestlers (who will of course expect you to tip).

Accommodation in the area If you can handle a lot of noise and lights until the morning light and you prefer a hotel that is close to the places of entertainment, there are several good options for accommodation in the vicinity of Walking Street. You should book in advance because they are quite popular.

  • The best known and most loved is W14 Pattaya, it is located at Moo 10, Walking Street Soi 14.
  • The most economical place to stay is Walking Street Guest House. It is located at Moo 10, Nongprue.

Safety Rules - As in any crowded and busy place in any city in the world, there are a number of rules of caution that are important to follow in order not to turn our experience into a depressing one:

  • Watch out for pickpockets or robbers, especially if the alcohol has started to get to your head. In addition, avoid taking expensive items or a lot of cash with you.
  • Beware of obscene offers. Women or lady boys will come to offer you to go to sex shows, most of which are actually a scam designed to get money from the tourists.
  • Remember to bring the address of your hotel with you, you can take the business card from the reception and keep it in your wallet.
  • Many people will approach you on the street and try to convince you to buy drugs from them, but you should know that drugs of any kind are illegal in Thailand and you really shouldn't get into trouble with the Thai police, who sometimes patrol the area.

Operation timeThe time when the street comes alive is late at night, especially around midnight. You will find almost no place that opens before 22:00 PM. From 19:00 in the evening until 3:00 in the morning the street is closed to the passage of vehicles, so that you can walk freely.

How to get there - Walking Street is 2 kilometers south of downtown Pattaya. You can walk to it on the coastline or take a short tuk-tuk ride.
