The largest and most authentic floating market is located near the capital Bangkok (half an hour's drive away) and is called Damnoen Saduak.

The floating market consists of hundreds of shops and stalls, dominated by amiable traders wearing rice hats. The usual tours are held for 30 minutes, in a boat that fits up to four people. There are different tours with different types of boats, such as longtail boat and amphibious boat with different occupancy and varying prices.

As in any market in Thailand, food is the main thing, so expect to find a lot of it - Pad Thai stalls, curry dishes, authentic Thai desserts, including the well-known pancakes, sliced tropical fruits, etc. At lunchtime there is also a cool buffet restaurant with a variety of seafood and mango rice sticks. It is recommended to arrive hungry.
