Monkey Beach is a magical and special beach located on the south-western side of the island Kopipi Don, near Lo Dalum Bay. The stretch of beach is not long, it stretches for only 150 meters, but it excels in a spectacular view of white sand and emerald water. The back side of the beach is a high cliff, covered with thick vegetation, which makes the place perfect for the settlement of monkeys. The cute little monkeys are constantly jumping between the tree ferns, as well as running around on the beach, right among the visitors. They are the attraction of the place and many visitors come to see them, take pictures and play with them.
It is very important to observe the rules of caution when you visit the place. The monkeys can be cheeky at times or behave unexpectedly. Keep your belongings close and make sure not to make eye contact with the monkeys (in their language this is a threat). Also, pay attention It is highly not recommended to feed the monkeys - They will never swear and get angry when you run out of stock...
Besides the furry friends on the beach, another attraction that can be enjoyed there is snorkeling. Monkey Beach is one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. The water is shallow and clear and the marine life is incredibly developed and beautiful, so you can feel as if you are swimming in a colorful aquarium. You should bring snorkeling equipment with you (you can rent it daily at the diving agencies on the island), because there is no possibility to rent it on the beach itself.
As mentioned, there is not much to do at the beach, so it is an activity of a few hours. It is recommended to arrive at the beach at dusk, when the view is the most beautiful and the monkeys are a little more relaxed.
To get to Monkey Beach you can rent a boat in Tonsai Bay (about two hours away) or from Lo Dalum Bay (about half an hour away). You can also go to the place in a kayak if you are not afraid of a bit of strenuous paddling. Entrance to the beach is free (you can reach it at any time of the day) and does not involve payment. Another option for visiting the beach is to take an organized tour that goes through the place, some of which also include snorkeling.
It is important to note that Monkey Beach is uninhabited and has no restaurants or shops, so you should stock up on food, drinks, or anything else you will need before you arrive.
