Ko Phi Phi Lee

Koh Phi Phi Leh

Ko Phi Phi Lee is a quiet and pastoral island, located one and a half kilometers from Phi Phi Don. In fact, these two islands form the Phi Phi islands, better known by the name Coffeey. Unlike its friend, Phi Phi Lee is not inhabited at all, it has no places to stay or restaurants and shops, and it serves as an attraction for a day trip from the main island.

At Phi Phi Li you can enjoy spectacularly beautiful landscapes - Tamarim stone cliffs, green vegetation, clear turquoise waters, white sand and colorful coral colonies.

The island consists of several bays, the most popular of which is Maya bay. Maya Bay is considered one of the most beautiful places in southern Thailand. The crystal clear water and the rich aquatic life in it, along with the fact that it was used as a filming site for a famous Hollywood movie (The beach), make it the main attraction of IFP and a site saturated with travelers throughout the year. You should know that rush hours are 11:00-17:00, so it is less recommended to visit the bay. Entrance to Maya Bay costs 400 baht. If you purchased an organized tour, the entrance will be included in the price.

To the north of Maya Bay is Palong Bay, which is mainly used as a diving site. The water here reaches a height of 12 meters and is infested with black-tip sharks. Because of the strong currents in the bay, snorkeling is less recommended and is reserved for certified divers or guided diving tours.

At the western end of the island is a bay named after him (Phi leh bay). Most of it is shaded throughout the day due to the large cliff that covers it and the water is quite shallow, making it a perfect place for a relaxing swim or snorkel.

Loh Sama Bay is located at the southern end of the island. It offers spectacular beaches and rich aquatic life at a depth of 20 meters. It is considered a successful site for snorkeling and diving activities.

Another attraction on Phi Phi Lee is the Viking Cave (Viking Cave or Tham Phaya Nak). The only connection to the Vikings is the paintings of the ships on the cave walls, which resemble the ancient ships of the Vikings. The paintings are the work of sailors who hid in the cave, probably a few hundred years ago. In addition, the cave has many nests of birds, which are a successful source of livelihood for the residents of the area. They are taken by the locals in the summer months and sold for hundreds and even thousands of dollars, as ingredients for a well-known Chinese delicacy - bird's nest soup.

To get to Phi Lee you can rent a private boat or join an organized tour that departs from the main island (from Tonsai Bay). It is a cruise of about half an hour.
