SkyWalk is a special observation deck located in the heart The Thai capital. The observatory is housed in a 314-meter high tower, the second tallest skyscraper in Bangkok (the first is the IconSiam Hotel, which surpasses it by only two meters).
The skyscraper, called King Power MahaNakhon Building, is designed in a unique and prominent way in the landscape - a kind of cubic spiral that looks like it was taken from a futuristic movie. On its lower floors, the building is also used as a home for department stores and a luxury hotel.
To reach the upper floors you will take a short journey in the elevator, which is also an experience in itself. From the moment the doors close, the walls of the elevator become screens that will take you on a bird's eye tour of the city. In the virtual tour you can see temples, bridges, buildings and popular points in the city. After less than a minute in the sensational experience, you will reach the first destination of the tour - the 74th floor.
From the heights of the 74th floor you will get a panoramic view of Bangkok, one that will allow you to see from above other skyscrapers, temples and the Chao Phraya river that crosses the city. Scattered throughout the floor are large touch screens that will allow you to zoom in on places that interest you. In addition, you can download the app of the place - "SkyWalk AR", which contains the same close-up function, to your smartphone. If you want a special souvenir, there is an option to send a postcard, anywhere in the world, for a fee of only 40 baht.
From the 74th floor you can go up to the 75th floor and from there to the icing on the cake - the 78th floor. The 78th floor is not suitable for those afraid of heights, it is all made of transparent glass, even the floor! So that you get a view of the city from all directions and you can feel as if you are floating high in the air (hence the name of the attraction - Skywallk). The first step definitely requires some courage, but the fear soon turns into a fun thrill that will get your adrenaline pumping.
After you've experienced the sky up close, you can indulge in a drink on the rooftop, at the Rooftop Bar. The famous drink of the place is the Aperol Spritz, which is considered the best in the city. The menu also includes a selection of wines, beers and soft drinks. The prices are not cheap, between 350 and 800 baht per drink, but it is a one-time experience.
The MahaNakhon SkyWalk is in an accessible location - in the center of Bangkok, in the city's business district, Silom. The building is located near the BTS station (Chong Nonsi station).
The observatory is open to visitors every day from 10 am to midnight. It is recommended to arrive around sunset, so the view is particularly spectacular and then you can get a night view. However, keep in mind that this is a very popular attraction, so expect long lines and crowds. During rush hours, the stay at the observation deck is limited to 10 minutes.
There are two types of entrance tickets: a ticket that includes only the 74th floor and costs 850 baht and a ticket for the entire experience that costs 1050 baht. For children under 12 and adults over 60 the price is reduced - 250 baht.
You should buy the tickets in advance. This can be done on the venue's website or on other websites (which often offer cheaper deals).
