Thailand attracts visitors from all over the world and for many years has starred in the list of the most favorite tourist destinations among young people, honeymoon couples and families with little ones, and rightly so - in the Kingdom of Siam there are countless activities and attractions that will easily fill a month with great pleasure. But not only activities and attractions make Thailand such an attractive tourist destination, but also the local cuisine, which in the eyes of many is considered one of the best in the world.
Let's start from the end - even those for whom Thai cuisine is not their "cup of tea" (in free translation) will be able to get by in Thailand easily. There are many vegetarian, gluten-free, etc. dishes (vegans will have a little more difficulty managing, but this case is not impossible either) but those who will really enjoy the special culinary experience in the Kingdom of Siam are lovers of strong, sharp and spicy flavors. And when we say "spicy" we mean the flame that cuts your tongue, yes?
It's about quick cooking over a strong flame using spices and vegetables with dominant flavors that combine with each other in perfect harmony to create a real work of art that will make you fall in love with the exotic cuisine, dream about it at night and yes, also gain a few good kilos... but between us, it's totally worth it.
If so, it is certainly expected that one of the most favorite attractions for tourists visiting Thailand will be participation in a local cooking course, which begins with a tour of the market and the selection of the freshest and best ingredients, continues with light studies on the preparation of some of the most beloved traditional dishes and ends with a corruption dinner where you will devour and lick everything you ate You succeeded (in the heart, in the heart...).
Such courses are popular all over Thailand, but are a major attraction especially for visitors to Phuket, where there are several cooking schools that offer short courses and workshops suitable for anyone who has a fondness for cuisine in general and Thai cuisine in particular.
During the course, you will learn to like ingredients that were familiar to you, although they are still a little foreign in Israeli cuisine, such as lemon grass and ginger, and of course - you will be exposed to hot pepper, its properties and where it is advisable and recommended to combine it (hint: anywhere and anytime, if you ask us).
There are two main schools that offer such courses in Phuket and each has its advantages and disadvantages, with the main difference being the duration of the course. Among other things:
- Kata Thai Cooking Class - Offers short courses that last a maximum of 4 hours and cost 2,000-2,300 baht per participant.
- Phuket Thai Cookery School - Offers the longest courses that last about 7 hours and include a similar format but the preparation of a larger number of dishes, including the option of vegetarian cooking. The cost is about 3,000 baht.
The courses themselves of course include pickup and return to the hotel, refreshments and a meal.
