Vacation in Ko Lipe

The pastoral island Kho Lipe, began to attract visitors (mainly backpackers) in the early nineties of the last century, but until very recently did not gain real momentum and remained relatively quiet and relaxed, and only recently has the growing number of tourists become more noticeable.

The beaches of Thailand In general, they have made a name for themselves around the world and have become, in the eyes of many, the ultimate vacation destination for those looking for an atmosphere of a good head, an exciting culinary experience, Pampering resorts and lively nightlife.

As such, the exotic islands of the Kingdom of Siam attract tens of millions of visitors each year seeking to enjoy all the bounty they have to offer. Among other things - spectacular diving sites, breathtaking views, romantic sunsets, spa centers, markets, pubs, temples, hiking trails and many activities for the enjoyment of young and old.

We would expect that, given that they are a major attraction, tourists would flock in droves and wash the islands with their presence - but this is not the case. In fact, most tourists concentrate on a few specific islands such as Coffeey, Copenhagen and Cosmoy while other islands remain relatively unspoilt, with few tourists (relatively speaking) and a much more relaxed atmosphere compared to their bustling neighbors.

And yet, Koh Lipe is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful islands bordering the coast of the Andaman Sea and it offers its visitors a wonderful experience in front of its beautiful ivory beaches, clear turquoise waters, a colorful coral reef where magnificently beautiful marine creatures swim in harmony and if you insist, you can board a boat and sail from it To the island of Angkwai in Malaysia.

Ko lipe

History on the edge of the fork

Koh Lipe belongs to the Adeng Archipelago, which has 22 islands, and belongs to the Tarotao Nature Reserve (Tarutao national marine park). Most of the islands belonging to this archipelago are uninhabited and remain to this day wild and authentic, covered in tangled jungle, spectacular waterfalls and the most beautiful snorkeling and diving spots in the world.

The island itself was first inhabited by gypsies about a hundred years ago and about half a century later was bought by a local businessman who began vigorous development operations and disturbed the peace of the anonymous island. In light of the voices of protest heard in connection with the businessman's ownership of the island, the Tarotrau Nature Reserve also claimed its ownership of the area, which was reflected in the collection of a fee for the entrance to the island (200 baht per person).

The island today

As of today, Koh Lipe does not receive the same amount of tourists as its neighbors in the Kingdom of Thailand, but it can certainly be said that it is visited. In fact, it has quite a few hotels, resorts, villas and guesthouses that connect most of its parts with spectacular views.

In the western part of the island, there are large areas that have not yet been developed, where the beaches remain virgin and wild, and if you want to reach them, you will have to put your feet on a walking track that is about fifteen minutes long - you will find out that it is worth it and more.

And as for the development itself, if we look at the positive side - the gray color is slowly taking over the green island, but today you can also find western services there that will make you sleep better at night. Among others - the Bangkok Hospital, the excellent Southern Medical Center, the Siam Internetional Clinic and other treatment and assistance centers that will provide you with an answer when needed.
