The flight of the gibbon

Flight of the Gibbons

District / Neighborhood: Mae Kampong

out of town Chiang Mai (at a distance of an hour's drive), in the heart of a traditional and quiet village called Mai Kampung, there is an ancient and beautiful rain forest no less than 1,500 years old (!). A spacious nature park was established there, offering visitors an attraction that will boost your adrenaline and allow you to experience the jungles of northern Thailand in a fun and unique way - Omega tours. Between the tops of the tall trees there are about 30 wooden platforms that are observation and mooring points, from which the ascent to the height and the descent to the ground is carried out with the help of cranes. The stages are connected by a number of bridges and a tangled network of ropes and cables, which stretches for 5 kilometers.

Despite the promising name, you don't always see gibbon monkeys during the tours and if you have met them, you are probably lucky.

All the activities at the site are conducted in English, together with certified guides ("sky rangers"), who will enrich your knowledge about the rainforests, the flora and fauna that inhabit them and along the way will teach you about the ecology and its environmental conservation is given special emphasis at the site. The average length of such a tour is about two to three hours and together with the trip and the lunch you will receive at the end of the tour, this is an attraction that will take you almost a whole day.

The company that operates the attractions in the park is considered very reliable and meets international standards in terms of adherence to safety standards.
The tours are conducted in groups of 9 people and are accompanied by two guides, who are at the beginning and end of the convoy. Before each tour you will receive comprehensive training on the required safety rules and personal equipment will be adjusted according to your body measurements.

It is important to note that since this is a tropical area, you should stock up in advance with long clothes, comfortable shoes, sun protection and mosquito repellent.

The Omega trips are suitable for all ages and do not involve considerable physical effort, so if you don't have a fear of heights there shouldn't be any problem. However, it should be noted that for safety reasons there are physical restrictions regarding who can participate in the tour - participants must be at least one meter tall and weigh up to 125 kg.

The tours are purchased by booking in advance, usually as part of a package that includes transportation in a van from Chiang Mai, a Thai lunch and sometimes a combination of visiting other attractions in the area. Prices are around 4,000 baht per person. Tickets can be purchased at travel agencies in Chiang Mai or online in advance.
