The Hidden Lagoon (Holy Princess Pool)

Sa Phra Nang

District / Neighborhood: Ao Nang

For those who want to enjoy the wild Thai nature but not give up a luxurious vacation with attractions and activities for the whole family to enjoy, alongside excellent restaurants, magical beaches and shops - it is recommended not to miss a visit to Krabi, one of the most beautiful and pleasant districts that the Kingdom of Siam has to offer its visitors.

In Krabi you can enjoy the most beautiful beaches headed by none other than Riley Beach, a great atmosphere of freedom and peace and although the nightlife scene is not as lively as you can find in other places in Thailand, there are quite a few pubs, restaurants and cafes in Krabi that will entertain you even in the wee hours of The night.

Among the many attractions that you can enjoy during your visit to Krabi, there is one of a kind that is reserved for the well-heeled or anyone who is highly motivated and ready to invest efforts in an intense climb in order to watch one of the most spectacular natural shows at the end - otherwise known as the "Hidden Lagoon" or as the locals call it It is called (in free translation) "Pool of the Holy Princess".

The hidden lagoon got its name because it is indeed hidden for those who travel on the "normal" paths throughout the district and in order to enjoy its mesmerizing beauty one must invest physical and mental resources and climb a rather muddy path up the cliff, which can be difficult for those who are not in shape or who come to the area accompanied by children small

You will begin the climb up the path after you reach the west coast of Riley Beach, where it touches Phra Nang Beach - there will be a sign that you cannot miss indicating the path leading to the Holy Princess Pool, which despite the challenging climb is considered one of the most central and popular observation points in the area.

The view at the end of the climb will make you happy - the investment is definitely worth it. In front of you will appear the entire magical coastal area and the beautiful bays in it, and of course the highlight for which you climbed all this way - the hidden lagoon, a spectacular natural pool in the colors of blue and turquoise surrounded by cliffs.

Some tips before going on a journey:

  • In order to enjoy the view, it is recommended to reach the observation point during daylight hours.
  • In this context, it is better to arrive at the place during high tide and not during low tide.
  • The road is more comfortable for walking on non-rainy days and not on days close to rainy days.
  • The walking path is muddy and may be slippery and uncomfortable for walking - you should equip yourself with comfortable walking shoes, water bottles and dried fruits.
  • Around the pool there are local monkeys who may not be sociable, even if you think otherwise. Do not feed them and take good care of your valuables.
